The Cedarville Community Library hosted a special event that will leave a lasting impact on the Cedarville community forever. On Monday, May 15, 2017, the ribbon was cut signifying the official grand opening of the Cedarville Welcome Center as well as the Linda Bartlett Memorial Storywalk.
On this beautiful spring day, a large crowd gathered to witness and celebrate this special moment. While there were multiple people involved, including the Chamber of Commerce, the Village of Cedarville, and the Green County Public library, this was a special time to recognize the special contribution from the Bartlett family. They had a unique role in creating the StoryWalk that lines the bike trail as guests enter Cedarville via the trail.
A StoryWalk is a set of laminated pages from a children’s book are attached to metal stands, which are installed along an outdoor path. As visitors stroll the path, they are directed to the next page of the story. Near the end of the ceremony, the ribbon to the new facility was cut and people were allowed to enter and view the new area. Being a part of a community that takes the time to cherish who people are is unique in our world. Towns aren’t clusters of people. They are friends, neighbors, family, and town folk that have mutual respect for each other and laugh together, cry together, and celebrate together.
Life isn’t about living alone. It’s about showing love as a community, and that is exactly what this new Welcome Center is about. Being that first welcoming hand to new faces and letting them know, you are among friends.
